RED, White & ZZZZ
The Summer Holiday is here!
I am not sure about you but our family always seems to be really busy in the Summer, but then, the weekend of July 4th is here, and WE NEVER STOP.
Not only is our day filled with lot’s of fun, the night is late due to FIREWORKS!
I am a FIRM believer in routines, structure and bedtimes in my household, but also, HAVING A LIFE!
Follow along in this blog to skip out on bedtime, and have a fun & late weekend!
Enjoying 4th Of July:
Be okay with having an off day, or two!
Bring along sleep props
Pajamas, bedtime routine items, sound machine
Get back to a strict routine, as soon as the weekend fun is over!
Enjoying routine interruption:
Understand that when you invest in teaching your little one how to sleep, they will have this skill for life. Yes, there will be tweaks and changes along the way, but sleep will always be found.
I am a FIRM believer in kids who know how to sleep, are the easiest children to handle late nights, new moves and big changes!
Leading up to your busy weekend, prioritize sleep. Get them in bed on-time, make sure solid naps and bedtime routines are happening.
If your little one is old enough, prepare them beforehand! “HEY, this weekend, we are going to have so much fun! That will include late nights, early mornings and missed naps, but guess what? We will get back on track in a few days, after our fun!”
Bringing Along Sleep Props:
When our littles are on naps, more than one, it is always best case scenario to prioritize one of those naps, to enjoy the actual activity.
If your know that your little one is going to be at the pool during their 2nd or third nap, let the first nap happen, and let them sleep longer, if they will.
If you know that your morning starts out with a parade, be sure to have the sleep items with you, to get in the second or third nap!
Bring along a sound machine and pajamas for car rides, stroller rides or carrier naps.
Bring along the extra pack- n -play and slumberpod for naps at another persons home.
If your night is going to be late, but you are home during the day, let the naps happen! Don’t worry so much on capping them, or have an “extra” nap even if it is 20-30 mins to push bedtime back.
Bring a long pajamas
Sleep items
and a book
Do bedtime routine in the car, let them fall asleep and transition them to their sleeping space once home!
Back To Reality:
There is always a time when we all need a quick, back to reality off and on button.
That is no different when it comes to kids & sleep. LIFE HAPPENS.
Cancel all other invitations.
Prioritize the sleep environment.
Ensure to have set and established bedtime and nap time routines.
Go back to the basics of your sleep plan.
Hope your Fourth of July is filled with fun, friends & Family!
I am always here to help you find sleep, enjoy life and keep sleep.
Your Sleep Coach,
Brooke
