Slumberpod: What’s that?

I remember our first vacation, after sleep training, and the amount of duct-tape and aluminum foil we had brought with us to ensure the room we were camping out in for the week, was dark enough for our oldest to keep her sleep!

There were so many windows in the room we were sleeping in and I just thought to myself, there must be something easier to bring with us, easier to put together and still provide safety and a great nights sleep away from home.

Just a quick google search of, “traveling with a baby and keeping the room dark,” lead me to many different ways to provide black out options and the easiest, safest and most reliable one that I have found so far, is the Slumberpod (@slumberpod).

Throughout this blog I want to discuss three major MUST KNOWS that every parents should know before they buy, and before they use!

MUST KNOW 1:

What is a Slumberpod?

Slumberpod is a POD, not tent, that was created to ensure that our little ones receive the pitch black environment for their sleep to maintain their healthy sleeping habits while it also keeps in mind our little one’s safety.

This Pod allows for the convenience of placing it over top of the child’s portable pack n play, mini crib, and or the older child’s cot, sleeping bag, or air mattress.

Multiple Versions:

There are different versions of the slumberpod. The newest version allows for a spot for a fan, and a newly renovated spot for the monitor.

If you have the older versions, as I do, we have a spot for a monitor and then, we just place a mini fan underneath the pod.

Enough Air Flow:

If you are concerned about your little one getting hot, even with the fan then, there are parts of the POD that are able to be folded to allow even more air to flow through.

Assemble:

The Slumberpod is easiest to assemble when you place the Pack-n-Play, set up, under the pod and then, put the pod sticks through the pod.

MUST KNOW 2:

When to implement the Slumberpod to your little one should be a process. Ensure that if your child is more sensitive to change to introduce the Slumberpod before you actually need them to sleep in the pod.

Process of implementing:

  1. Their happiest time of the day (usually mornings, after feeds)

  2. Make sure it is in daylight.

  3. Don’t mention them needing to sleep in the pod.

  4. Talk about how amazing it is, TALK IT UP.

  5. Then, put it away.

Then, the next day:

  1. Happiest time of the day.

  2. Sunlight.

  3. Role play with their lovies, stuffed animals.

  4. Talk about how safe and fun the pod is.

  5. Let them get in.

  6. Talk about how little ones sleep in this pod when their families travel, go to friends or if they need to share with family.

Actually using:

  1. Use it at night for bedtime.

  2. Then, implement for nap.

  3. Know that it may not be something they’re extremely fond of and may need an extra bit of love for bedtime.

MUST KNOW 3:

How to pack the Slumberpod for traveling and all of the necessary items to also bring along.

Traveling via SUV: Our family does not disassemble the Slumberpod when we travel via SUV to closer places, as in family homes. We play the slumberpod, fully assembled at the bottom of the pile.

The Slumberpod slides in the back of our car, facedown. The bags, pack-n-play, and other travel items go on top of the Slumberpod.

Traveling via car: The Slumberpod easily folds and fits within a bag, that is received once you buy it, and can fit anywhere within your car.

Traveling via airplane: Pack this in your carry on incase of any delays or layovers, and you can easily assemble within the airport.

WHAT ELSE TO PACK WITH THE SLUMBERPOD?

  • Portable fan

  • Portable Sound Machine

  • Pack-n- Play, Cot

  • Monitor

The Slumberpod has been such a blessing in my families life. Our youngest daughter uses the slumberpod every day for nap, and bedtime.
